Community Contributions

As a high school soccer captain, my role extends far beyond the field it relays into our community, leaving a lasting impact that resonates with both my teammates and those around me. Leadership, dedication, and sportsmanship serve as pillars that uphold the spirit of unity within our community. The presence of a soccer captain is intended to inspire and motivate their teammates to strive for greatness. Through actions and words, you instill a sense of commitment and determination in your fellow players, encouraging them to push their limits and work together towards a common goal. Whether it's during intense training sessions or crucial games, a captain's dedication sets the standard, creating a culture of hard work and perseverance within the team. Beyond the confines of the soccer field, the role of captain allows you to become a positive role model for younger players and aspiring athletes in the community. By embodying qualities such as discipline, resilience, and respect, you showcase the importance of sportsmanship, teaching valuable life lessons that extend far beyond the field. Through refereeing, and helping with soccer clinics for the younger boys and girls, you get the opportunity to help the next generation of athletes. Teaching them the same values that have guided me throughout my soccer career. I get to help with soccer camps, tryouts and get to be a positive role model to the younger girls in the community. Above all, I get to be a positive role model to the sophomores and freshmen who will be in my position in a few years. Those freshman and sophomores will remember me in a better light than I remember my old captains because I was their friend and teammate. I didn't want the younger girls to experience what it was like for me and my friends as underclassmen on the team. I hope to be remembered as the girl who put everything she had into bettering SLV’s girl's soccer program, changing the culture of the team for years to come.
